A big Macmillan fundraising event is being organised on 12 May at 3 p.m. at Victoria Embankment Gardens in London and at other venues in memory of an Old Brutonian - Sophie Parr (Wellesley 1998-2003) who died of cancer in 2009 aged 24 and was the daughter of KSB teacher and former house master of Old House, Malcolm Parr. As well as being a pupil Sophie lived at King's for 10 years from when she was eight, 8 years in Old House when Malcolm was a house master and 2 years in Wellesley as a sixth form boarder where she was Head of House. She was also the first Deputy Head Girl at King's.
BollyGood is being organised by a family friend in London who was inspired by Sophie's personality and courage. The idea is to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and to go for a Guinness record by having the largest number of people performing a 4 minute Bollywood dance routine at different venues at the same time. So far the BollyGood team have arranged for friends in New Zealand, Katmandu, New York and South Africa to join in on the day - and pupils at King's will be dancing at school too!
